You and your family’s safety and security are our top priority at Harlan Morris. We have staff, awake and on-site, ready to assist our residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, we have many other standard precautions that we take to ensure that our residents feel safe in their units and that families rest easy knowing their family members are protected.

Homecooked Meals

Each meal, breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Harlan Morris is homecooked, from scratch. Eating around our dining room tables is just like being at home – but without the work in the kitchen! Some of the specialties and most loved dishes to come out of our kitchen include homemade chicken and dressing, ribs, various other types of chicken, homemade macaroni and cheese, hamburger steaks, and squash casserole. But, our kitchen can and does cook any and everything to make our residents happy through their meals! 

Short Term Stays

Need a respite or want to test out senior living? Trying a short term stay at Harlan Morris could be the answer!

Our respite care service is a great solution for you or your loved one if a temporary stay is needed. Respite services can be used from one week to a couple of months – you decide! Many people utilize our respite services in situations when their typical at-home caregiver at home is unable to continue care. This might include when their caregiver goes on vacation, is in the hospital, or for any reason that causes the person to need temporary care. The respite resident will receive all the amenities and benefits of a permanent Harlan Morris resident.

These services include 24/7 awake staff, bed checks, medication assistance when requested, a safety alert necklace, all meals provided, housekeeping services, activities, and so much more! Since respite services are a temporary stay, the resident will stay in one of our fully furnished model rooms. Only clothes and personal items are needed. Not having to bring furniture makes this a fast and easy solution for your loved one should a temporary placement be needed.

FAQ

In any community you join, there are many ways to make new friends, from Wii bowling and billiards to social events and fitness classes. For loved ones in our memory care community, daily programs help maintain their abilities and quality of life.

Do you provide medication assistance?

We do! If a resident needs medication assistance, a locked medication box is placed in their room.  At their designated medication times, staff assist them with unlocking and taking their medications. This system helps with any concerns of overtaking medications by accident or taking them at the wrong time. Only staff members have a key and access to the individual medication boxes. If a resident is capable of keeping up with their own medications, but might just need time reminders, we also have a system in place for this.

Do you take insurance?

Like most assisted living-type facilities, we are private pay and do not accept insurance.  We do, however, have residents with Long-Term Care Insurance policies and our facility qualifies for those policies. Our facility also has residents (and their spouses) who receive VA benefits for living in an assisted setting, for those who qualify. If you or your spouse is a veteran, we will be happy to give you more information regarding this monthly VA benefit.

Can you have your vehicle and come and go as you please?

Absolutely! We have several residents with their personal vehicles at Harlan Morris.  We even have some who brought their golf carts here! You can come and go as you please; we only ask that you sign in and out every time you leave so we can account for everyone who’s in the building at one time.

Do you have staff here all the time?

Yes! There is always on-site and awake staff on the premises 24/7. Under our State of TN license, we must provide at least 1 staff member at all times, but usually, there are many more staff members on duty than that.
