If you are looking for a special place for your loved ones, Harlan Morris Retirement Community is perfect.
After our stepdad passed, Mom stressed over maintaining her home with routine upkeep, eating healthy, and staying active. I was concerned she wasn’t socializing and enjoying her golden years as she should. During our Thanksgiving getaway to the beach in 2023, Mom told us she wanted to move to a retirement home.
At first, we were hesitant because we didn’t believe Mom would be happy leaving her home; however, HMRC offered the best solution for Mom and us. We saw an immediate change in Mom. She is content and is the happiest and most carefree she has been in years. HRMC management and staff go above and beyond to make her life exciting and stress-free. Not only do they provide three meals a day, cleaning, and social activities, but they interact with all the residents to ensure that every resident is cared for and happy. Our family’s heart is happy seeing photos and watching videos of Mom participating with the other residents, with so much laughter and enjoyment.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Harlan Morris Retirement Community to anyone looking for a great, safe place for their parents to enjoy their golden years.

Harlan Morris Retirement Community has been a Godsend for my family.
My mom was getting to the point that it was not safe for her to be living alone, and unable to keep house and cook. We (her children) were worrying about what to do because we did not want her living far from us.
When Harlan Morris reopened, it was the perfect solution. The entire facility is so nice and clean. All of the staff from Amanda Newell (Manager) down to the aides, cooks, housekeeping, and maintenance have been so helpful and really interested in making the transition from her house to this being her home successful. She has been welcomed from the moment we went to look around and see if her moving here was a possibility.
Her needs have changed some since moving here, and everyone has been actively invested in making sure that her needs are met. All of the residents “look after” each other as well, so we know that if something needs to be addressed, they will call it to our attention as well as the staff. My siblings and I could not be happier with Mom’s well being here. Change is difficult at this stage of life, but anything and everything has been taken care of without complaint or delay. I can’t say enough good things about Harlan Morris and would welcome any questions from anyone who wants to know about our experience here.

Harlan Morris is a great place for your aging loved ones.
My mom (Mollie) moved in December of 2023. I see a new sense of independence and joy that has been restored in her. My dad’s passing in 2020, two broken hips, and other health issues have been difficult for her. I’m so thankful that she has her friends at Harlan Morris. It’s nice to have people with similar experiences to talk with, go shopping with, and eat with. It gives me peace knowing that someone is with her when we can’t be there. Plus, she’s having fun!
Harlan Morris is a great place for your aging loved ones who are still able to live alone, but thrive when they get that extra boost of confidence this retirement community gives them!

We are so thankful we have such a nice, new, and clean place for her to live.
In December 2020, my dad passed away from Covid. My parents had been married for 61 years and spent most of their time together. My mother (Mollie) sold her childhood home and moved into a new duplex in town. She started having dizzy spells and after a couple of falls, moved in with my husband and I.
In the fall of 2022, she fell and broke her pelvis. After rehab and therapy, she came back to our home. Only to fall again in 2023 to break the other pelvis. This time no surgery, just therapy.
We heard Harlan Morris had reopened and she decided to check it out! On December 1st 2023, she moved in! Knowing most of the residents made her move easy and comforting. She even has a cousin and spouse living there too.
I never have to worry that she is alone! Someone is there 24/7! She has an emergency necklace and help is always there!
She gets 3 meals a day, snacks when she wants them, and loving people to meet her needs! She has made new friends and enjoys the company when she wants it. She is free to come and go as she pleases and can have company anytime. If she wants her quiet time, she goes to her room! They even do room checks at night if one desires them! We are grateful for Harlan Morris!

Our community is very fortunate to have such a nice facility as Harlan Morris.
My name is Judy and I live at Harlan Morris Retirement Home. I lost my husband, David, in March 2023, after 58 years of marriage. It was an easy decision for me to move to Harlan Morris because David and I discussed moving to Harlan Morris when they first announced they were re-opening. Because of our health problems, David passed away before they opened, but I knew it was the best place for me and it was what he wanted for me.
Since moving in, I have made new friends and renewed a lot of old friendships. We all enjoy each other at meal time, activity time, or anytime we want to spend time together. We may be rocking on the front porch, walking the track, playing cards, or dominoes but you will always find us laughing and having a good time together.
I cannot say enough good things about the management and staff. Kind, considerate, helpful, and concerned for each of us, are some of the words that come to mind.
Meals are a very important factor when you move to this type of facility. I can say the meals are delicious. If there’s something on the menu you cannot eat because of health issues, the kitchen staff will offer a substitute menu.
Our community is very fortunate to have such a nice facility as Harlan Morris.

FAQ
In any community you join, there are many ways to make new friends, from Wii bowling and billiards to social events and fitness classes. For loved ones in our memory care community, daily programs help maintain their abilities and quality of life.
We do! If a resident needs medication assistance, a locked medication box is placed in their room. At their designated medication times, staff assist them with unlocking and taking their medications. This system helps with any concerns of overtaking medications by accident or taking them at the wrong time. Only staff members have a key and access to the individual medication boxes. If a resident is capable of keeping up with their own medications, but might just need time reminders, we also have a system in place for this.
Like most assisted living-type facilities, we are private pay and do not accept insurance. We do, however, have residents with Long-Term Care Insurance policies and our facility qualifies for those policies. Our facility also has residents (and their spouses) who receive VA benefits for living in an assisted setting, for those who qualify. If you or your spouse is a veteran, we will be happy to give you more information regarding this monthly VA benefit.
Absolutely! We have several residents with their personal vehicles at Harlan Morris. We even have some who brought their golf carts here! You can come and go as you please; we only ask that you sign in and out every time you leave so we can account for everyone who’s in the building at one time.
Yes! There is always on-site and awake staff on the premises 24/7. Under our State of TN license, we must provide at least 1 staff member at all times, but usually, there are many more staff members on duty than that.
