History of Harlan Morris Retirement Community
Located on 16 acres just south of Downtown Trenton, Tennessee, Harlan Morris Retirement Community is a 39-bed facility that overlooks the picturesque Shady Acres Park. Completely remodeled and reopened in 2023 under new, local ownership, Harlan Morris looks to continue to build upon 75 years of happy residents and families. We are expanding services and amenities, while focusing on a safe, secure, and satisfied community.
Mack Morris, a Hungarian immigrant who arrived in America in the 19th century, made his new home in West Tennessee, eventually becoming financially successful. Over the years, Mr. Morris supported various organizations, including local colleges and universities, the YMCA, churches, hospitals, and notably, the Girl and Boy Scouts.
Forming a lifelong friendship with Col. Harlan of Trenton, TN in the late 1800s, Mack Morris eventually left the remainder of his estate in trust for the construction and operation of the Laura Harlan – Mack Morris Foundation Home, serving aging residents of the Trenton and Gibson County community.
In 2022, Harlan Morris Retirement Community was purchased by local ownership and went through a complete renovation of the 39-resident facility. With a new, modern look in the beautiful 16-acre park-like setting, Harlan Morris is ready to serve the next generation of residents in Gibson County.
